Appointed as AgEagle’s Vice President of Research and Development in January 2021, Justin McAllister joined the Company in tandem with AgEagle’s acquisition of MicaSense, a leading provider of multispectral sensor technologies.
Justin served as Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of MicaSense from February 2014 through January 2021. Recognized as a highly accomplished, hands-on, unmanned systems architect with a strong applied background in board-level hardware design, embedded software, control systems, robotics and wireless communications, he helped lead MicaSense to become a global leader in development of premium drone-based cameras (sensors) designed to be highly adaptable for integration with a variety of platforms serving a multitude of industry applications.
From 2005 through 2014, Justin worked at AeroVironment, ascending through the ranks over his nine+ year tenure with the company, beginning first as a Senior Electrical Engineer, Advanced Systems and advancing to the position of Technical Lead within the Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems group. In these roles, Justin developed unmanned aircraft systems to fit specific customer needs, including leading the development or assisting with development of the Wasp II, Wasp III, Shrike VTOL, PumaAE and WaspAE. AeroVironment is a global leader in unmanned aircraft systems and tactical missile systems, and serves defense, government and commercial customers.
Earlier in his career, Justin served as an Electrical Engineer at Precise Circuits, Inc. and Clean Earth Technologies. He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering; and he currently has 10 issued technical patents.
