Senior Software Engineer | MicaSense

Job Summary:

The Senior Software Engineer is an integral part of the MicaSense team, developing the software and firmware that power our current and future payloads and sensor systems. This position requires a wide variety of software engineering skills and is versed in all aspects of software design with a hands-on work ethic to produce a tangible product line that makes a difference in a wide range of industries.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop Linux applications for imaging and remote sensing payload systems
  • Design and implement large portions of software components from the ground up
  • Design and implement software tools for production and test of hardware products

Position Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years experience developing Linux applications in C/C++
  • Working knowledge of Linux-based development environments (make, cmake)
  • Strong practical knowledge of C/C++
  • Working knowledge of Python/Ruby or similar interpreted languages
  • Self-motivated and able to take ownership of a project with minimal oversight
  • Familiar with git-based version control for managing large software projects
  • Strong sense of curiosity and a desire to learn new skills

Extra Points:

  • Experience working hands-on with hardware and using electronic test equipment (oscilloscope, DC power supply, basic soldering)
  • Experience developing “bare-metal” and RTOS applications
  • FPGA design experience (Verilog or VHDL)
  • Experience developing linux kernel drivers
  • Experience with Ruby on Rails
  • Experience with native mobile applications on Android and/or iOS
  • Image processing experience (especially OpenCV)
  • Robotics, mechatronics, or unmanned aircraft experience
